@stoplight I don't know if they could actually hold a referendum on independence. If yes, there might be the possibility of moving in large numbers (more than 50 anyway) for the sake of winning the referendum. Then, as an independent country recognized by the global community (this is a given as it would be recognized automatically by the UK and EU after the referendum), we could do pretty much anything we want.

Well..it?s not bad to dream right...haha..maybe i?ll send the local council a letter sometime soon?and all of us here could be e-residents if they hold a referendum to be independent..and promote their ?country??.we can put up an embassy in say Iceland?.put a server farm in the embassy?and bring e-investments and all?that would be a good idea right..haha?maybe get a nifty second passport in the process without ever living there...haha! well..it?s just a thought..after all the UK would probably drop them in a heartbeat if they could earn for themselves... :smile:

Hi everybody. I'm new here and am interested in the topic of perpetual travel to support a very free lifestyle. @freedomsurfer.com I would recommend to consider starting of freelancing/consulting as a first means to get money on a road. :slightly_smiling_face: It seems much easier path to money (versus building your own product) and you can always go back to it if your product doesn't work out.
I'm talking here from my personal experience -- i'm working on a current product for 10 months already (i also had couple of totally failed products), but Recurring revenue is only around ~100$ now :slightly_smiling_face: Having other means to support myself - helps a ton. I'm not into much stress and pressure, i don't need to sell out parts of my company either...

Hi Guys, this might be a simple question, but I am unsure what is the best practice for that.
I have a LLC in USA and want to connect a Stripe account, however, to connect a Stripe account to a USA based business they require that the Stripe account is opened by someone in USA too,
basically, it requires a USA based address and this is subject to verification.

@simon the form doesnt permit (anymore at least) to have a foreign address if the company is in the US. Maybe they did that to push people into Stripe Atlas

I also wrote to them and they confirm that its required to have one of the "team" in the USA to open the account and that I could add myself as an admin anyway. So I am thinking to use a virtual mail box. its probably possible anyway to open it with a US address and than switch it, I havent test that.
I am concern that having an US address could be seen as having business activity in the US.

Using the hack usually triggers a manual verification. You then have to provide a piece of ID and answer a few questions. In some cases, the verification is done immediately while in others it only happens when a certain threshold is reached.

They don?t ask for a proof of address, just a piece of ID. Besides, you can probably change your address once the account is active. I?ve just had a look at mine and can select a different country for my personal address (for a Stripe US account).

@ravi I closed my UAE company as the compliance in UAE and the proof of addresses for the UAE bank account was getting too high. Also I had zero business in that region, so made little sense for me at the time. The costs are higher than other options which was also a factor.

Hi Simon. Great to be here. I am from Barcelona, currently based in Thailand, where I run a book cover design company with clients worldwide (none client is based in Thailand). Since regulations here regarding foreigners is a nightmare, I am planning to get a retirement visa next year and incorporate overseas to run my company remotely. My team will also be working remotely based in several countries. Now, my question is, where would be the best country where to incorporate in terms of easiness and cost-effective? I am considering Estonia, Labuan, Singapore, and Wyoming. Labuan is great in terms of cost and low taxes, but it has been excluded from Double Taxation Treaties by several countries, including Spain, where I have some clients. Singapore seems to be affordable and easy. Wyoming would be ok as I currently don't have US-based clients but my senior designer would be working for me as a contractor based in Arizona. Not sure if that would be an issue. But I am not sure what are the advantages of setting up in Wyoming.

Because if I'm working as member or managing LLC while being physically in Poland then according to Polish law it means LLC is doing business in Poland and foreign enterprises (which LLC is even if it's 100% owned and managed by local resident) have to register branch here or form subsidiary in order to do business legally.
Being self-employed in Poland wouldn't give me any benefit and it is exactly the thing I want to avoid since it's very expensive compared to running LLC even if you add costs of registering branch, getting apostilled documents etc.

Today I?ve been researching destinations to go in Europe. According to IATA Albania and Serbia are full open, no need to quarantine.
I would avoid high density areas, but, a bit of summer at sale prices in the Adriatic cost sounds very good to me.

Arrived in Greece yesterday by ferry from Italy to Patras, everything smooth as always. Had to prepare form on government website, then on the day you arrive at midnight they send a pdf by email with a QR code you need to show after disembark. Random swab is low % so we just drove through the border gate. Booked island ferry easily they ask to sign a self declaration form. Not so many tourists, but the beach is full. (main issue is spending as they don't consume much and I heard revenue is down more than 75% YoY). Lots of mega Yachts. Some tourists from UK in June spend 4 days driving through Bulgaria as borders were still open with no control. Basically people always find a way to sneak through. Happy to answer any questions. I think interesting addition to the site could be an overview of IP Box schemes available in different countries since they can offer significant tax advantages in many cases, for example in Poland any income from selling IP can be taxed at 5% instead of regular 19% business tax rate and it's also applicable to personal taxes so any software developer can use it for big reduction in taxes. I know many other countries have it too, but I'm not sure if it also applies to Personal Income Tax

Briefly speaking yes, in more details: IP Box in Poland allows anyone who gets business income derived from intellectual property which was created within business to pay only 5% tax for that income, it applies to both CIT and PIT. Also standard tax transparent LLC taxation rules applies. In my case I'm software developer/contractor so any income I get from contract in which IP rights goes to client counts for this. Normally software developers here use it with Polish sole-proprietorship which is taxed under PIT, but since LLC is tax transparent this scheme can be applied to it as well so I can use 5% rate :slightly_smiling_face: I could simply use Polish sole-proprietorship but as weird as it sounds having LLC is simply cheaper and also has some other perks like limited liability

In Serbia there is 3% CIT under the IP BOX regime. As Serbia is a part of Europe but not a part of EU, there isn?t EU VAT.
There is also a R&D regime, where you can count your R&D costs double. Employee salary counts here as well.
With combination of those two, you can effectively get 0% CIT. The only problem is extra paper work to achieve this, as you need to register a patent and to prove you?re getting money as a result of IP and not from e.g. consultancy.

As far as I know, it?s only CIT. Good thing is you can pay yourself a minimal wage as there isn?t such thing as ?fair salary? concept like in the Netherlands for example. With a minimal wage you need to pay approx. 150 EUR monthly for all taxes and social security. Everything else you can pay out as a dividend. Regularly dividends are taxed 15% CIT + 15% dividend tax for residents.

I haven't been on here in a while and I'm just noticing now that it's not possible to gain access to messages older than a few months back (older than April 4th 2021, currently) without paying for a Pro Slack membership. I know this is not something you control and is completely separate from the lifetime membership we all paid to get access. But I was wondering if you had already solved, or thought of solving, this by crawling all the channels and creating and storing the messages in a database so that they would be searchable by all members.
With so much valuable knowledge existing from prior April 4th, it's quite unfortunate that this archive is not accessible anymore.
