Anyone in Argentina at the moment? How?s daily life?

Government keeps flip flopping on rules/curfews, they make them up as they go. Speaking in relation to Cuidad de Buenos Aires. A couple months ago you could be out until 12 am, then 1 am, then about a month ago they made it 8pm, meaning all business are closed for sit down service at 8pm but the kitchens stay open later for delivery drivers. You were also supposed to not be on the street after 8pm but if you are on foot or in a taxi you won't get bothered, seems to be only if you are in a private car you might get asked what you are doing. Then a couple weeks ago they changed it to 6pm and removed sit down service so you could only get take away and then just this last Monday we are back to the 8pm rules. I think there is no inside dining (just on the street) but I could be wrong, it's hard to keep up with it changing all the time. Right now during the day life is pretty normal, Argentina has been wearing marks for 15 months or so (on the street). Gyms (inside) are closed (for now) but some of them have set up outdoor gyms. Over time people have generally started to care less about what the government rules are. For e.g if the rule is 8pm you are supposed to be home, you will still see people on the street after 8pm (despite nothing being open). I've been catching cabs at 12am, 2am etc without issue. You are not supposed to have "social gatherings" but people do (can hear music coming from peoples apartments). The government is talking about on again/off again lockdown restrictions (as above) through winter but who knows. Like I said they make it up as they go long. Vaccine rollout is a joke so these made up rules don't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Keep in mind I have been in Argentina for the duration of COVID so I have no other basis for comparison and I may have become accustomed to "COVID life" here.

Thanks for the on-the-ground update @burrup.lambert. That?s good info. Yes, I?ve been following the news and see how badly the vaccine rollout is going. I lived in Buenos Aires for 5 years and want to go back but now is not the time. As far as I know, I couldn?t even fly in if I wanted to. But when that changes, hopefully heading into summer, it?s time will be time for a visit. I just can?t imagine the city closing early every night and people not socialising. It?s such a drastic change.

If you have a DNI you can come back but if it's on a tourist visa it looks like it won't be until September at the minimum, possibly later from what the government has indicated.

My DNI expired a long time ago. Waiting for the country to open up to tourism again. Thanks

Has anyone here actually gone through the process of getting Argentine citizenship? On paper it looks simple; just stay there for 2 years with income and then apply with the correct documents. But perhaps it's more difficult in practice.

Is Argentina open right now? I want to visit and get temporary residency.

No. It's closed. However, a few days ago the government announced that they may be opening up tourism for fully vaccinated tourists (2 jabs) following Uruguay.

Thanks. Can I at least go to Los Angeles consulate and start the process? I didn't get a response from the consulate on this

I think the general advice is to start the process here. It will be quicker and less headaches.

Isn't it required to star the process in the consulate first? Also my passport requires visa for Argentina.

You should consult with a lawyer.
